Phil qualified in 1997 from Manchester university. Since then he has followed a varied career working within many branches of dentistry including the hospital service as a clinical assistant to a consultant in restorative dentistry, directly for Derbyshire PCT treating many of the vulnerable members of society such as those with special medical needs and of course, working as a general dental practitioner. To further his post graduate education Phil has been closely involved with the British Dental Association, both locally and nationally attending conferences around the country. He also served as president of the local branch for a term. Phil joined Hughes and Owen in 2010. Outside of dentistry he enjoys spending time with his wife and son, and shooting at his archery club.

Christina qualified from the University of Bristol in 2015. Since then, she has completed her dental foundation training and worked in two practices in Wiltshire, before moving back home to Staffordshire. She has been awarded her postgraduate diploma with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow. Christina joined Hughes & Owen Dental Care in April 2019.
Christina believes in providing high quality patient care and is committed to continuing her postgraduate education by regularly attending courses and conferences, to ensure she is exposed to the most current ideas and methods. She enjoys all aspects of general dentistry, in particular she has an interest in whitening and cosmetic white fillings. Christina also finds treating anxious patients rewarding. In her spare time, Christina likes spending time with family and friends and keeping fit - enjoying dance and yoga.

Shilla graduated from Guys & St Thomas Hospital (London) in 1999 and worked in various practices in the midlands including a practice she owned herself. As well as having completed several courses on dentistry abroad and in the UK.
She provides all areas of general dentistry and particularly enjoys cosmetic dentistry including non-invasive procedures to enhance the smile such as whitening and composite bonding to create smile makeovers.
Having promoted National Smile Month, she was also invited to the house of commons to celebrate her contributions in the past. She has also ran courses in dentistry and tested out new innovations from several dental companies.
She regularly writes articles in dental magazines on the various subjects relating to dentistry which she has been doing for over 12 years.
Shilla enjoys reading, playing netball, yoga and cooking. Socialising with family and friends.

Dr Ravi Talati qualified from the University of Birmingham in 2000 and then during his VT year won the prize for best case presentation. He has extensive experience in restorative, cosmetic and implant dentistry. Ravi has been carrying out implant dentistry for over 20 years and has trained in the UK, USA and Europe in this field.
He is also an Invisalign certified dentist and carries out other cosmetic procedures such as Facial Aesthetics.
Outside of dentistry he enjoys playing tennis, socialising with friends and family and supporting Everton (though the latter isn’t always enjoyable!)

Kirstie qualified from University of Wales (Cardiff) in 1998 gaining her Diploma in Dental Hygiene. In that time, as well as working clinically, she has been a Hygiene Tutor at Manchester University and Birmingham University and is currently a Presiding Examiner for the National Exam Board for Dental Nurses. Kirstie is a member of BSDHT and BSP which keeps her up to date with new guidance with she uses within the practice. In her spare time, Kirstie is an avid reader and also volunteers a day a week at a local charity.

Liz started her dentistry career in 1996 working as a trainee dental nurse in a private and NHS practice, and qualified in 1998 gaining the National award for dental nursing, where she worked for the next 19 years. She joined Hughes and Owen at burton in June 2015, where she works alongside Dentist Mr Richards.
Liz enjoys all aspects of dentistry and caring for patients, Liz is married with two children. Outside of work Liz likes to spend time with her friends and family and walking her dog.

Hayley started at Hughes and Owen 2008 as a trainee dental nurse before qualifying with the National Diploma for Dental Nursing (NEBDN) in 2010.
Hayley enjoys being part of the Hughes and Owen team carrying out extra duties such as Cross Infection lead, First Aider and Fire Marshall.
Outside of work Hayley enjoys ice skating and running but loves nothing more than spending time with family and friends.

Georgia started her dentistry career in 2017 starting off as a trainee orthodontic nurse. Georgia then went on to further her career by moving to Hughes and Owen in august 2020 and went off to qualify in November 2020 gaining the National diploma Award for dental nursing (NEBDN). Georgia is very passionate about her job and enjoys all aspects of general dentistry she is also our qualified first aider for our Burton upon Trent practice. In her spare time, she likes spending time with family and friends and going on dog walks with her dog Reggie.

Sara qualified in July 2019 and has worked as a dental nurse in both NHS and private. She is very keen to develop her skills in dentistry and has been training and working alongside implant treatments. In her spare time, Sara enjoys spending time with her family and friends, watching movies, cooking and keeping fit.
Assistant Practice Manager
Stacey started her career in dentistry at Hughes and Owen in 1998 as a trainee dental nurse and qualified in November 2000. In February 2006 Stacey then progressed on to become head receptionist and December 2020 became our assistant practice manager. In her spare time Stacey likes to spend time with her family and on long walks with her dog.
Receptionist/Dental Nurse

Jane qualified as a dental nurse in 1980. Jane started working for Hughes and Owen in 1978 as a dental nurse but now works front of house as a receptionist. She loves interacting with patients and reassuring them when they are anxious. Jane lives on a farm and so when she’s not working, she helps on the farm, and particularly loves the lambing season. She also like walking with friends in her spare time.

Julie has been dental nursing since 1975 and has been at Hughes and Owen since 2007. You may see Julie working behind reception most of the time, but does help out dental nursing when needed. She is a very committed member of staff.
In Julie’s spare time she like to read, knit, and spend time with her 2 granddaughters.
Receptionist
Claire started working at Hughes and Owen in August 2008. You will see Claire on the front reception welcoming patients.
She is passionate about her job and loves the interaction with patients and helping them. In her spare time, she likes to read and go on long walks in the country side.
